How it works
Questions, answered plainly.
What is a public adjuster?
A public adjuster is a licensed professional hired by the policyholder to handle a property insurance claim. We work for you, not the insurance company.
How is that different from the insurance company’s adjuster?
The insurance company’s adjuster works for the insurer. A public adjuster represents you, and our job is to make sure your claim reflects the full damage.
What does the free inspection cover?
We look at the damage and review your policy so you understand what it covers. The inspection and policy review cost you nothing.
How do you get paid?
We explain how our fee works at your free inspection, and it is written in your contract before you sign anything.
Can I hire you after I have already filed a claim?
Often, yes. Call us and we will tell you honestly where you stand.
What if I am happy with my insurer’s payment?
Then you may not need us. Our advertising says it plainly: if you are satisfied with the payment from your insurer, you may disregard it.
What kinds of damage do you handle?
Hurricane, hail, wind, tornado, lightning, water damage, plumbing leaks, mold, fire, sinkhole and vandalism. See all of the claims we handle.
How soon should I call?
As soon as it is safe to. Policies set deadlines for reporting a loss, so sooner is better, and damage is easier to document when it is fresh.
Is a public adjuster the same as an attorney?
No. A public adjuster handles the insurance claim. We are not attorneys and we do not give legal advice.
Do you support veterans?
Yes. The Adjuster Knows proudly supports veterans.
